CORE Discussion - Dr. Terry and Dr. Herzog: Bring the core discussion to campus. It's been 25 years since the core has been reviewed. We need to serve our students well in the 21st century. In 1997 and 2004 the core was reviewed by faculty, but now we want to gather student input. What characteristics are expected and what a Gonzaga graduate looks like. The approach of goal setting and task planning is being implemented. The idealism of a core is to be founded through colaboration of everyone. How can we get students involved? This year will be used to gather information for a committee to shape the consensus' views. Suggestions: use facebook to reach students. Talk to Julia about using Be Heard Gonzaga. Go class by class through presidents and vice presidents of classes. Use a portion of class to do a question/answer survey. Present a few dynamic modles to students (we want to give way to free thought and imagination). Go to alumni now and get advice. Side-note: Faculty must ultimately believe in the core. Go into the COG and set up a table for students to get information. Academics committee needs to work on taking a view on this. Return to the Senate for and update. Mass e-mail to all senators for questions will be sent. All jesuits will be involved in the decision making of the core.
c. Advisor –Fr. Steve Hess - Lunch and dinner sign-up.
IV. Committee Reports
a. Committee on Governance - Took a look at transfer student position implementation. Also, the computer problems in Admin. and Foley. There is no current long term goal for replacement. You can also check out 1 of 20 laptops. Therefore, we are looking up what we want to do with computers (i.e. buy new, update, etc..). This Saturday the constitution will be reviewed in the green room of Crosby at noon.
b. Committee on Student Affairs - Bike racks are already coming. Kelley: An idea for senate is to suggest that eveyone create a bill before the end of the year. Mikeala: Getting credit for gym attendance.
c. Committee on Academics - Process of working on old topics. A bill will soon be arriving. Working on pathways: a fixed curriculum to make it more meaningful. Support for major discovery. Core discussion.
d. Committee on Finance - Allocated all funds. Also, get a report for allocation of funds.

VI. General Discussion
a President Forum Questions - next Monday 5 o`clock in Spokane room of the COG. "Mandatory" for senators. Be there. Senate may be cancelled for this week. Bring your Q and A's.
b. Adopt a Zag - Joe: Don't be afraid to write a bill. Alumni gives a zag student $500 and the zag meets an alumni. Joe wrote up one himself on this idea. It passed. Don't just get the bill passed, implement you promises. Take the time to write your ideas into a bill and don't ever quit against the administration.
